Hello, Ingevar is here with news about Career Profile.

More stats and Awards

We were happy to see that a lot of players welcomed new awards and got gold medals including the trickiest ones, so we felt we should expand the list of medals and ribbons a bit.
Previously we focused on warfare mostly, but this time we added some that cover economy, production and recruitment aspects of the game.
My personal favorite is the new ribbon "Orchestra of Boom": first of all the name! But then also it will require you to design and deploy a division with anti-tank, anti-air, artillery and rocket artillery with a support signal company. Not that hard to do, but very fun to use this division in battle!

20230201110624_1.jpg

Some of the new medals will deliver a serious challenge even for more experienced players, like "Quality Over Quantity", which requires you to have several times less casualties than the enemy after inflicting at least 1 million casualties.
20230201105834_1.jpg

We are also adding more statistics to Career Profile, which can tell a bit more about each player's playstyle.
20230201111913_1.jpg

Awards Display

You can display your awards now! Be a proud general with a couple of best medals, or go full Brezhnev-mode showcasing every bit you have!
We also plan to add more medal shapes and icons so that it's easier to tell one medal apart from another.

unnamed (3).png

Stats in Multiplayer

We will also collect statistics in Multiplayer now! Awards are still Single Player only, but now you'll be able to see how the player is coping against other humans.
unnamed (5).png

Backgrounds

We wanted to add a bit more customization to Career Profile, so now you will unlock backgrounds for Career Points you earn with Awards.
The combination of your nickname, profile picture, and the background will form the Badge, which will be visible to other players.
unnamed (6).png

The Badge In Multiplayer Lobby and Chat

One of the biggest changes we bring is the possibility to view the Career Profiles of other players in the multiplayer lobby and chat.
Just click on their badge and see their stats and awards!
If you don't want to share this valuable intel with others you can always set the visibility of your own profile to "Friends Only" or "Private".

unnamed (9).png

Stats comparison

When viewing profiles of other players you will be able to compare numbers to yours directly.
unnamed (10).png

We are very excited to hear your thoughts and see more gold in your Career Profiles.

Stay tuned and see you later!

Thank you all for being a part of this community - we appreciate you all and the enormous help that your suggestions and bug reports bring! So let's continue with this War Effort to improve the game together!

I'm also happy for anyone being interested in career profiles and the fact that they got beefed up...though I have to say also that these have zero relevance for me. Not trying to argue that work could have been spent elsewhere or something...I'm fine with pleasing that crowd as well; just making the point that not everyone cares about that stuff in case it somehow matters for higher level decision-making.
It's doesn't impact our workload of making fixes and expansions

Very curious about this. There are only ever so many hours to be worked, and priority decisions to be made - and every decision to do something is a decision to not do something else.

I only comment due to my continuing and increasing frustration at the BBA plane sprites still being utterly broken and not resolved, even at least a resolve just for the majors, 4 months after release... Considering these are at the heart of the plane designer... Seems very much like a 'too hard, takes too long, dont want to, lets move on and hope players forget, instead look at this shiny new thing over here' mentality.
The people working on the career profile are not the same discipline as the people who would fix particular bugs with the game. For example it would be like asking a content designer to fix a pathfinding bug, or a programmer to fix a focus bug, they are not the same and are allocated separately. 1 person doing X does not mean that another person does not do Y, conversely it can sometimes mean be that 1 person doing X means that 1 person cannot do Y. It very much depends on the specific persons involved, the project involved and what their job is, but in this case it is not the case.

They can be disabled with game rules but they start disabled by default? How is it then?
You do not need to have all of them enabled, you can choose which ones you want, etc. Thus creating an easier way for a player to personalize their experience ^^

Hope this answer helps!

Great work!

However, this fix "early cruiser hull no longer unlocks cruiser armour" was designed wrong. Now country that does not have "Cruiser Armour I" from game start can`t get it from any tech. There are no technologies now, unlocking this module. Quite disappointing, as I had already written about this in my bug report...

Very pleased to see this fix as this bug was a serious impediment to naval warfare. Thank you.

I dont now whether i really like the the death or dishonor trees getting tweaked like this. On one side, if they would never be otherwise, it is good. But actually those trees are so outdated by now and these nations are too important for WW2, that the trees should be substantially revised in near future i think. And this puts it farer away it seems.

Is there a Possibility for Horia Sima? Or the only choices Antonescu, Goga, & Codreanu? And when does this release?

Running a test game now (usual settings, historical focuses, normal difficulty, play as Haiti and take no actions) Germany conquered Belgium and got all of Belgium's provinces in Africa.

I was pretty sure this was fixed in previous patches. (in reality Belgium continued to administer their territories in Africa following their surrender)

I ran the game until Germany declared war on the USSR, and then tag switched around. Here are the weird things I saw:

USSR

1. Still running pointless agitprop - "The Golden Idol of Capitalism" doesn't help at all, "More Oil for the Motherland" is pointless when you have full fuel, "More Metal Means More Weapons" doesn't help if you don't have much industry. A safe bet for the AI would be to just run "We Will Achieve a High Yield" over and over if they must run agitprop.

2. Didn't annex either Latvia or Estonia - they used to do that in previous patches.

3. Army still too small, only 209 divisions. They don't have the manpower shortage I saw in previous patches - they have gone to "limited conscription" so they have 2 million manpower. They're a little short on AA guns, maybe that's why they're not training more infantry divisions? Might be worth increasing their priority for those - they have tons of artillery and infantry equipment going spare.

4. Making the small army problem worse, there are lots of divisions guarding places that don't need to be guarded. There are twenty divisions guarding the East coast of the USSR.

5. AI still overprioritising armoured cars. There's no way the USSR should be researching 1940 armoured cars when it doesn't have 1939 AA guns, or 1939 engineers, or 1940 half tracks, or any kind of radar.

UK

1. They've researched 1939 radar, but they haven't built or upgraded any radar bases.

2. They're not very good at raiding. They only raid with submarines, and they don't raid off Africa, where the Axis has a ton of forces. Some ships raiding in Cap Verde or the Red Sea would do very well.

3. Credit where credit's due, I don't see any ports in the build queue, so bravo on that one.

Germany

1. They've sent tons of forces to fight in Africa in the Belgian Congo. I count over 50 divisions either there or travelling between there and France.

2. Resistance is pretty out of control in France and Poland - over 50% with the "emboldened resistance" modifier active in tons of places, doubling damage to garrisons.

3. No research done into radar or synthetic rubber, despite them needing both. They're having to import from Siam instead.

Japan

Surprisingly strong performance this time. They're at the outskirts of Chongqing, which I don't usually see. There are some ports in their build queue but not too many.

Nice Ingame-Changes. Therefore an big Thanks to the Devs.

The Multiplayer-Parts are not of interesst for the Single-Players, but for the little Multi-Player-Community very good. Then we Single-Players don´t get nerved from them anymore.

- Romania: several new focuses added which enable the possibility to manipulate which country leader will run the fascist party

This is very nice. One little detail I think you missed. When you go Institute the Royal Dictatorship as Romania, after some days, Codreanu dies, so the Exclusive focuses Iron Guard and National Christian Party give the same leader after Force Abdication. I think the idea was that after Crack down on extremism, Codreanu to die and be replaced by Antonescu, but without taking that focus, Goga is the leader of the f party. I also think that Crack down on political extremism shouldn't be available after taking Iron Guard or NCP focus.

And it is nice to see to Bulgaria got some attention, though I would like to have seen some more changes as stated in my feedback thread on a playthrough with Bulgaria:

Japan and the USA are definitely building carrier planes now.

I've run my test game to August 15 1945 now (historical end of the war) and the USA don't have nuclear weapons or a plane that can drop them yet. They don't have any heavy planes at all. Japan's caused them millions of casualties, probably through submarine raiding, and has slightly more dockyards than they do.

The Axis have done very well in general - they managed to take Cairo early on, Germany's taken most of the major cities in the USSR, but it looks like they'll collapse soon. Weirdly enough, Switzerland joined the Allies in 1944 and that made a big difference.

I'll repeat my suggestions this time too because I still think they're very important, even if the relationship bug has been fixed.

Can we update Turkey, and specifically the balkan path. The path is very broken. Greece randomly leaves your faction to join the allies even when it's already in your faction. The path is also just way too painful with all the 70 day focusses. By the time you get to inviting bulgaria to your faction they're always already in the axis, and you cannot invite them, making the path really bad and not worth it. It'd be great if the path could be shortened by having several more 35 day focusses rather than 70 so we can actually invite Bulgaria before they join the axis. It'd be great if there was also a way to have hungary be able to get invited to your faction and some general other flavor things because the path feels very lackluster and not worth it. For one, I'd add a 35 day focus that allows you to request a cypriot federation independence from the brittish (after greece is in the faction) and have them join your faction, and also to be able to mediate border disputes with your faction members such as hungary being able to get north transylvania or bulgaria being able to get macedonia with turkey as the mediator to take the role germany takes historically but peacefully. Lastly I feel there should be an idealogy drift defense modifier or democracy and unaligned party boost somewhere in the path for all faction members because romania randomly going fascist when they're in your faction makes little sense.
