Hello Console Edition Fans!
Today we’ll be talking about some more super exciting changes that are coming in the next free update for Console Edition: Bureaucrats and Bureaucrat jobs!
But first, we need to cross some T’s and dot some i’s by covering changes to Empire Spawl, in triplicate.
Empire Sprawl
In the next free update, Empire Sprawl will be expanded to make it a more interesting mechanic. The largest change you’ll notice is that pops now increase Empire Sprawl, however, most things in your empire will expand Empire Sprawl to various degrees.
Empire sprawl will also be modified from various sources, for instance, “Courier Networks” in the Expansion tradition tree will now reduce Empire Sprawl caused by the number of planets and systems and the Harmony tradition tree finisher will reduce sprawl caused by all your pops.
The penalty for the amount of Empire Sprawl that exceeds your Administrative Capacity will also increase, making it more desirable to invest some of your resources into increasing your Administrative Capacity.
Machine Intelligence and Gestalts will also get modifiers to their Empire Sprawl penalty, adding more flavour to these empires. Machine Intelligence will now get +100% Penalty for being over their admin cap, representing Machine Intelligence having more of a centralized empire, while Gestalts get -25% Empire Sprawl penalty, representing Drones with unreliable connections to the Hive Mind falling back on their instincts.
Administrative Capacity
The Administrative Offices building is the primary means of increasing Administrative Capacity for regular empires in the next update, and comes in two tiers, with the higher tier providing more pop jobs, but also requiring Exotic Crystal upkeep. (More on Machine Intelligences and Gestalts later)
Jobs
There are three different jobs that increase Administrative Capacity in the upcoming update, each provides a flat improvement to Administrative Capacity, in exchange for a resource, plus the normal pop upkeep. Regular biological empires will get Bureaucrats, Coordinators for Machine Intelligences, and Synapse Drone for Hive Minds. All of these jobs are specialist strata jobs.
Bureaucrats
Bureaucrats are the job created by the new Administrative Offices/Parks building, and produce +10 Administrative Capacity per job, in exchange for Consumer Goods.
Coordinators
Coordinators are changing in the upcoming update, while still created by the Uplink Node, Coordinators now produce +15 Administrative Capacity in exchange for Energy and pop upkeep. Coordinators will also no longer produce unity, which is moved to a new Evaluators job.
Synapse Drone
Hive Minds will get Unity and Administrative Capacity from Synapse Drone jobs, +3 Unity (base) and +5 Admin Capacity (base) in exchange for Energy Credits and pop upkeep.
There have been some other changes, such as certain sources that increased Administrative Capacity by a fixed amount, now increased by a percentage amount instead. This percentage is applied directly to the Administrative Capacity total, and not added to job output.
Planetary Designation
There’s one other thing, an addition to last week’s Dev Diary about Planetary Designations:
There is a planetary designation for a Bureaucratic Center as well, adding +2 Administrative Capacity from Bureaucrats, as well as -10% Bureaucrat upkeep, and -20% chance of Pop Ethics shift. This Planetary designation is not available for Hive Minds or Machine Intelligence.
That’s all for this week folks! Join us next week, where we will cover other changes coming in the next Stellaris: Console Edition free update!
