Who is the Master of Universalis? This is the question we’ll try to answer, starting Thursday March 14th, with 8 players clashing in carefully crafted challenge matches over the course of 7 days.

Format
The tournament format is an eight player bracket over three rounds. Each day, two players go head to head in a best of three game, each session drawn from a list of challenges based in Europa Universalis IV. The game sessions are designed to be completed in about 30 minutes.

The first player in each game to win two sessions will move on to the next round.

How to Watch
This spectacle will be broadcast live through Paradox’s channels on Twitch, Youtube, Steam and Mixer. And each player will have the choice to simultaneously broadcast their side of the battle through their own channels, so you won’t lack choices in how you want to view Masters of Universalis.

Each match will be played at 8pm to 10pm CET every day, starting on Thursday March 14th, and with the grand final taking place on Wednesday the 20th of March.

Challenges
Each individual challenge will be presented to the public on the day of competition, and we welcome everyone to have their own go at the challenge, and to share their results with us. Who knows? Maybe you will be selected to partake in the next Masters of Universalis?

Between playing, I:R devclash and now this, I think I'm officially engaged with Paradox. The marriage will happen when I:R comes out and I'll get literally no time for anything else other than work...

Only rng can beat florry. Except for the spiffing brit i have never heard of any of the others. Doesn´t mean that they are bad, but I there are certainly other names that come to mind for the master of universalis... Marco, bbftw, jake, siuking, atwix also some lesser know players like accordion or florrys mods. I do like the format though. Maybe this can be a regular thing, maybe even with a higher number of participats... like a eu4 olympics :p

I imagine the idea was to have a host of different YouTubers from different games. Wish me luck :(

Always like to see talented players play the game. It´s just the name of the tournament "masters of universalis" implies that only the top players of the game will participate. Anyways I wish you the best of luck for second place, but for first my money is on florry :p

Good point. Your wish for second place is sheer optimism, but I appreciate it none the less :p

Very nice, IR is getting a Dev clash even before release and now this, is very nice to see the variety you guys put forward.
Now, I only wish for something to give love to HoI4 and CK2 as well, streams are great and I'd never wish it to go away, but watching competitions and bantering as well just sounds absolutely great to me.

A truly impressive list of the greatest EUIV players. I wonder who will win the challenge?
They were probably worried bbq, atwix, Siuking, you and marco would talk too much trash about the game. Florry keeps it positive despite the fact he hates all the changes that have been made; impressive really. I hope one of these other guys can at least make it worth watching. Kind of doubt atwix or marco would even accept tbh.

They should run a second one in April with 7 players that have extreme levels of accomplishments and DDRJake. The banter would be worthwhile alone, then the champion can take on Florry.
