Very Immersive Events and Tales (VIET), the sequel to VIET Events Reborn for CK2, is a flavor mod that adds a vast collection of events about everyday life to spice up your game. They add immersion and a diversity of experiences in between wars and vanilla’s event chains, and cover mundane minutiae from small talk with courtiers and eating local cuisine to epic tales about love, philosophy, and the human condition. Some events even unlock new decisions, interactions, activities, and much more for you to explore!

I hope the lessons I learned from my years of modding CK2 will help me deliver a fun experience for those who play my mods, and I hope to add more and more events in every update.

VIET WORKS ON EXISTING SAVES! (Though remember to make a backup copy of your save just in case.)

Feel free to use my work in your mods - all I ask is that I am credited and (if possible) to give me a heads up. And if you liked the mod, feel free to favorite and rate it up!

  • Over 1116 new flavor events to experience!
  • Explore new decisions, artifacts, character interactions, activities, and more!
  • Game rule to disable sillier events for those who don't like them, with three levels to choose from: Balanced (Default), Serious (Restricted), and All Events (Full)
  • Compatible with almost anything since it doesn't touch any vanilla files - even with overhaul mods, you can via game rule disable events that reference things specific to our medieval world that wouldn’t make sense in other time periods or universes (like fantasy/sci-fi conversion mods)
  • Learn history with Historical Context tooltips that provide information about what inspired some of the events - sometimes, reality is stranger than fiction! (These can be disabled via game rule for those who find it immersion breaking.)

TRANSLATIONS AVAILABLE
Because people are kindly spending their own free time and effort to work on these translations, please be aware that the folks working on these translations may or may not be up to date with the latest version of VIET. Do note that all non-English languages available in the vanilla game has placeholder English localization in the base version of VIET, so they can be safely run, it will just display untranslated text in English (instead of gibberish).

Please see the FAQ on my mods' website[cybrxkhansmods.godaddysites.com] for more info.

Version 1.12.1 "Manetho"

Manetho was a priest and historian from Ptolemaic Egypt in the 3rd century BCE. He wrote the Aegyptiaca (History of Egypt), which chronicles the reigns of the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt. Though the Aegyptiaca only survives in scattered fragments in the works of later ancient historians, and despite its flawed information, it remains a valuable source on ancient Egypt for modern scholars.

New events added in this version: 8

  • Added 8 events based on words from the winner of the VIET Word Contest for ModCon
  • The cave exploration event (VIETmisc.0092) is now a travel event
  • Miscellaneous bugfixes

*Adapted from VIET for CK2

Thanks to all I worked with, took stuff from, and provided me encouragement and feedback over the years. Special thanks in particular to the teams behind WTWSMS (especially IlikeTrains and Loup99) and Lux Invicta (including tsf4), as well as M@ni@c, creator of Hide Your Jewelry, for maintaining and improving on VIET for CK2 over the years, which provided me a solid foundation for improved reboot of VIET Events. Huge thanks also to the kind souls who take the time to translate the mod and put up with my erratic update schedule.

A few other shoutouts in particular:

  • Bonseny for the amazing VIET and RICE logos
  • OrdepNM, my partner in crime in the early days of VIET for CK2 and who stepped up to help maintain it while I had serious medical issues years ago.
  • Sleight of Hand for pushing me to get into the CK2 modding scene and for other assistance over the years, which is why I am still here for some reason.
  • tora75 for contributing the Norse unique localizations for several events.
  • Stik, Vertimnus, and Tobbzn on the CK3 Mod Co-op for helping me figure out how to adapt my CK2 province events and do a system for county events for CK3.

@Dierhan It should be ok. Just make sure to change the VIET Universe/Setting game rule to Total Conversion mod, so that it'll disable events that don't make sense in a fictional setting such as those that refer to specific real-world locations or history

will this work well with AGOT mod?

@Rakjasa For an unsupported language you'd have to create a submod which will require some basic modding knowledge of the localization code unfortuantely, so you'd probably need to find someone who knows how to do that.

@cybrxkhan Unofrunately I'm not a modder, but if anyone is interested I can translate from English to Italian. I'm playin with a mod that overrides the Spanish language to Italian at the moment, so my VIET mod will be in spanish and I cannot understand it well XD

@Rakjasa Haven't heard anyone come to me about an Italian translation. If any Italian modders want to make an Italian translation sub-mod they're more than free to (or any other language really)

Hello and thank you for your work. Can I ask you if there is any plan about Italian VIET translation?

Just a quick heads up to everyone - I've just ran a quick test and it seems like my CK3 mods should work fine with the new patch without needing any updates. That said, I will run further tests in the next day or so, and if it turns out that an update is actually needed, then I will work on one ASAP.

@MuriMacja If the mod isn't showing up properly and you're using the steam version, make sure you are selecting the right playlist in the launcher and the playlist has VIET selected. Also try unsubscribing and resubscribing to the mod to make sure it downloads properly, and verifying game files. Another possible issue is make sure you aren't running other versions of VIET (like the paradox plaza version) at the same time.

Lastly if nothing else works, try a manual install from GitHub (link at the top of the description). Make sure you unsubscribe from the Steam version when you do.
