Hello everyone!

We have setup a new opt-in open beta branch for Barbarossa, aptly named open_beta. If the branch does not appear, restarting Steam should fix it.
This is meant for the brave souls who want to try out the upcoming fixes & balance changes early.
Contrary to normal releases this branch is a work-in-progress that has yet to go through our full release QA process, so while we try to keep relatively stable you may experience new issues or crashes.

This patch aims to resolve some of the common issues encountered with popular mods, especially out of sync issues and crashes.

Feel free to leave your feedback in this thread or in the bug report forum as usual, especially if you encounter new issues not present in 1.11.5, or if something marked as fixed in the below changelog still occurs for you.

- Fixed dynamic modifiers not returning localized keys when supplied
- set_nationality effect will no longer check if the character is 'available' in the target country before transferring them
- set_nationality on characters will no longer cause their owning country to reset to their original country on loading savegame. This addresses several CTDs and some unexpected behaviour.

- Fixed OOS and other subtle issues caused by bad ordering of logistics stockpile in deployment logic
- Fixed CTD with mods that fire leaders without giving AI a proper 7 days notice period
- Liberal use of diplomatic_relation in script will not longer slowly corrupt memory, triggering random CTD and OOS

Is there any hope of ever fixing the non-MTG super heavy battleship armor? For some reason SHBB1 has twice the armor of SHBB2.

Other than that, looks good. Thanks for all your hard work devs!

This seems important. I've had some issues (Semyonov, Inonu) with characters not being available when they should in games without mods, is this related to either of them?

So it looks like both the Semyonov issue (where he'd be unusable if you reload a save after the Russian Civil War starts, even if you completed Approach Semyonov before) and the Inonu issue (where Turkey would be unable to progress in the Etatism branch of its focus tree because its focuses that require him to be present weren't satisfied; I only saw this happen to the AI since I didn't play Turkey, so I don't know why) are both fixed in 1.11.6. I assume that's because of the line I quoted earlier, but I don't know. Regardless, thanks!

Meanwhile for some reason when I tried to do a Russian Exiles game, fascist Japan declared war on me in 1939 while I was still fighting the Civil War. (We had 63% world tension because Germany capitulated the Czech Entente quickly.) I'm more inclined to think this isn't a bug, just AI actually playing smart and taking advantage of my weakness, but figured it was worth mentioning anyway.
 
Please fix "Esti is Scandi" focus, change the line to properly check if the Nordic countries is AI-controlled instead of Player-controlled.


But the most important thing, just make it auto-core the Nordic countries BEFORE Estonia annex them, instead of the other way around which caused the newly annexed states to have -50% non-core modifier and making those industries to be destroyed before them get cored a millisecond later.

So how it goes as now?

Patch 1.11.4:
1. "Esti is Scandi" completed
2. Nordic Countries is annexed by Estonia
3. Decision available to change cosmetic tag into Nordic League and core them
+ They got instantly annexed without spending any PP
- Half of their industry gets destroyed because they were annexed before cored first

Patch 1.11.5:
1. "Esti is Scandi" completed
2. Only Finland is annexed because the game checks if NOR, SWE, and DEN is "NO" AI-controlled instead of "YES" before Estonia annexes them
3. Decision available to change cosmetic tag into Nordic League and core them
+ Their industry (except Finland's which half of it gets destroyed) are intact because i can core them before annexing them one by one
- 900pp get spent total to annex them all because they are not player-controlled

My hope for Patch 1.11.6
1. "Esti is Scandi" completed
2. Check if FIN, SWE, NOR, and DEN are AI-controlled. If FIN is yes, Estonia cores FIN and annex it with all their commanders too (more generals is more fun obviously). Same with SWE, NOR, and DEN
3. Estonia instantly changes into Nordic League without any decision
4. A bonus decision available to core Newfounland and Karelia? No, not going any further east of course, just stops at Karelia. Or instead, Ingria, Karelia, and Newfoundland are instantly claimed by Nordic Empire

Please.
It's not just France. I saw German tank divisions guarding Bordeaux, Frankfurt, Bayonne, Koln and the Swiss border on the day of the German declaration of war on the USSR. Another nine tank divisions were at sea sailing between France and Italian East Africa.

I don't think the AI really knows what to do with different kinds of divisions. That's why you see Japanese Pacific island garrison units navally invading China alongside cavalry. The AI just sees "division".

i have huge amount of random ctd compared to previus barbarrosa. very random, are you checking for it, could be opengl?
 
I'd like to note that Hirohito probably needs the 'Imperial Sanctions' trait added for the 'Young Officers coup' event since it is supposed to be removed later down the tree but since he doesn't get it currently it's a bit weird.

Also for the French focuses 'Rush the Richelieus' and 'Prioritise the Joffrey' it would be nice to add a unlock technology bonus for the respective vanilla ship technologies as right now if you complete the focus without the relevant technology nothing happens which completely wastes the focuses.

I think that's a good idea but IMHO the core issue is that logistics under enemy air superiority would not be carried out in daylight in real life. So it would cut down supply by a good half but a lot less trains and trucks would be bombed. The issue is that AFAIK each truck or train bombed results in a complete stoppage of supply for that delivery. I think a reduction of bombing efficiency will just make people put 30% more bombers up and won't really change the situation.

The other issue related with supply is the fuel situation. It's impossible to use tanks when the enemy is logistic bombing and even without it, the cutoff point where you don't get any fuel is simply ridiculous. If you push into an enemy province, you immediately stop receiving fuel in your tank division and as long as the enemy counterattacks, that will never change. I think SURPLUS_SUPPLY_RATIO_FOR_ZERO_FUEL_FLOW is simply too high. What I also really loved is the idea from a mod to add extra fuel tanks as an option for the armor designer.

renaming certain provinces bugged out certain core acquisitions (as always).

For example, Gdnyia for monarchist GER is not getting cored if poland accepts danzig for guarantee.

also related long standing bug is if CZE refuses sudentenland or poland cedes danzig to fascist GER, there is no core. this is due to core being awarded in popup events munich conference or danzig or war: war. i propose moving the core award to the focuses themselves.

please fix these.
