Hello City Building Enthusiasts!

We are sharing an update with you on the upcoming launch of Cities: Skylines II.

We are hard at work preparing the game for our release on October 24th. While doing so, we have realized that we need more time to reach the quality targets we have set for Console. As we want to provide the best experience for our players, we are updating the release window for Xbox and PS5 to Spring 2024.

The additional time allows us to focus on matching the quality and performance across all platforms.

We’ll share more updates on the console release window soon.
As work on optimization continues, we’re also updating the minimum and recommended PC specs.
If you have remaining questions, please find our FAQ here.

In the meantime, we are excited to welcome PC players to build their dream cities on October 24.

Happy Building!
Colossal Order & Paradox Interactive

Hugely disappointing doesn't even come close, effectively spoiling the game for the entire console player base as they will be able to see everything that game has to offer when it hits the PC on release day.

I find it a bit grating that this decision isn't communicated earlier on. You could easily have notified users that console was behind on schedule, and that hitting the expected release date would be hard.

I pre-ordered a game with a specified release date only to have it pushed back 6 months. Considering that you are probably already spending development time on the first of the DLC, I would much rather have that pushed back and console release postponed for just a few weeks than not hitting the deadline for console by a wide margin and leaving paying customers out in the cold.

"Dissatisfied" does not cover it.

edit: that would also make the game in time for holiday season, so there's that. Clear communications on why it is postponed for so long, and why other things are getting priority would have made this much less of an issue. Just my 2c.

Whilst I think it’s disingenuous that this wasn’t known before now considering it’s less than a month until launch

And I remain sceptical that there will be content parity upon launch

Ultimately I believe in taking the time to make the best possible version upon launch so absolutely no issue with this

(Maybe a discount at launch for messing console owners about )

I'm disgusted... already we're not really clear on consoles, between the things we don't have, often more expensive, without a workshop.... and then we're going to get some crazy spoilers in the meantime. .. I hope at least that we will have the rights to good performance, I still hope for a workshop on PS5 (we can dream) and that we will be entitled to a little something to make the pill pass at 80 balls in preco

Well, that's hugely disappointing.

Will the game be available on GeForce Now by any chance? I was thinking about buying it on Steam instead of Xbox to get access to mods, and even more so after this news.

Hugely disappointing for console players, definitely. Infuriatingly late, even.
But what is there to "spoil" in a city builder game? There is nothing secret about this at all, unlike a story-driven RPG.

Everything in the game will be all over YouTube when the game is released on PC on the 24th, that means every building/signature building, every tool, everything in the milestones that haven't been shown, all the items in every development tree and anything we haven't yet seen, because the footage we've been shown is a beta build of the game.

And that's just in the base game, when you take into account that the two expansion packs (bridges & ports and beachfront properties) and two content creator packs will now likely be released on PC before the game is out on console, we'll be able to see all the assets and extras from them before we even have a chance to play the game.

There will literally be no secrets to the game when we finally get to play, so disappointing doesn't even come close.

With PC specs being upgraded and the console version being delayed. I’d be more concerned on how much there gonna dial back the console game to polish it…..This isn’t a minor delay. This is 6 months plus possibly…. We’re looking at spring now, which technically could go all the way to early June. This was a game that was suppose to be ready in 4 weeks… plus with refunding pre orders… I have doubts about about spring release too.. All we got was a release window. Nothing concrete. Just gonna take a deep breath and forget about this game for another half year. A little transparency can work wonders with your fans…pretty disappointed with how paradox handled this.. not cool!

Not really the kind of game that has things that would be considered spoilers. Most people want to know everything it has, to decide if it is worth buying.

If you didn't want to know what is in the game, you're already in the wrong place.

With this delay, the game definitely needs to exceed or expectations. I hope we will also have something extra, or even a compensation of some sort. But I understand the delay, and I totally understand your decision.

Saw this coming, people asking why this wasn't known earlier? Unity just announced their price changes, think about it....

Considering consoles will be the lowest common denominator, hardware wise, in this equation of same content for all.

An RTX 3080 for 1080p is actually insane. Even RDR2 or Cyberpunk WITH RAYTRACING can run at higher resolutions with a 3080.
The money I spent to preorder this game is hard earned and I'm very disappointed with the fact it will most likely run like trash.
I expected much better from Colossal Order; I thought they would care about their consumers and community more than this.

To say I'm disappointed with the wording of the announcement is a understatement.all this hype, with a countdown clock ingame, the dev diary leading up to launch, to now being told PC gamers are still getting the game on launch day, while we get a vague statement on a launch on console?

i'm just glad i didn't pre-order the game
